Hi I’m Layla Al Idrissi, a Palestinian visual artist born and raised in Qatar, currently studying Illustration and Visual Media at the University of the Arts London. Ever since I could remember, I had a brush or pencil in hand. I’ve always had a wild imagination that no one really seemed to understand, but I always seemed to turn to art as a part of self-expression. I’m often described by people as someone who’s always in "la-la land", however, I’m simply just an artist: thinking of new ideas, new concepts, new ways to visualise my chaotic mind, often leading me to make a mistake or two in the real world. But who can blame me? When you have such a magnificent and special outlet. I’m grateful to be an artist and grateful to share this mind of mine with you.
I aspire to create work that creates desire.
Desire to be where my art is.
To be where my art can take you, wherever that may be.
The art you make is for you first, the world later. There’s nowhere to go once you’ve been buried under a rock of other people’s expectations.

Do not hesitate. What’s worse than failure is not giving yourself the chance to do so.

There's nothing more authentic than your childhood self. Listen to that person more.

Herd mentality is the ultimate downfall of any artist.

Every inch of your canvas should be exuding pride and love for yourself and your work.
